Loughborough was the venue for the student television event of the year – and what a NaSTA Conference it proved to be for the class of 2026.

LSUTV welcomed the national student television weekender back to their sprawling east midlands campus, following memorable editions as hosts in 2011 & 2014. As always, there was plenty of alumni involvement across the weekend.

STAN set up in the exhibition centre, where it was a pleasure to reconnect with some old faces, and meet the next intake of student television alumnus. Alongside the stall, our fully-booked CV Clinic ran throughout the day, which has proved a popular addition to conference in recent years, and a great way for students to connect to the professional industry before graduation.

The awards this year featured a smorgasbord of alumni across the judging panels, spanning all ages and professions. The evening kicked off with a stunning laser light show, and what followed was a real testament to the hard work of LSUTV, the SU and the NaSTA exec team. A fitting occasion to celebrate another year of student television.

STAN had the honour of presiding over the judging of Event Coverage, with Karl Taylor (LSTV) giving his verdict on the winners. Congratulations to Cardiff's Met TV, who took the gold. The award was presented to them by STAN's very own Hannah McCann, back on her old stomping ground in Loughborough.

We were also delighted to see the latest recipient of the NaSTA Fellowship. Josh Rom, once of NSTV and now a prominent broadcaster, was given the honour. His boundless enthusiasm and tireless devotion to NaSTA has been so valuable to student television. A worthy inductee in our eyes.

The range of winners throughout the night was really encouraging to see. And no doubting the story of the night was Offshoot TV of Belfast taking the Best Broadcaster trophy back to Northern Ireland. We look forward to welcoming them, along with all who attended, into our alumni community.

The entire conference weekend proved to be a huge success, and highlighted the strength of feeling amongst alumni towards giving back to those who are currently making student television. STAN will continue to offer our full support, as we wait impatiently to find out where the 2027 edition will take place.
