NaSTA was back in Southampton for the first time since 2009

A sunny Saturday in Southampton - the perfect venue for the student television event of the year.

Southampton Solent University played host to the 52nd annual NaSTA conference and awards, and we saw plenty of familiar faces from our alumni community there to mark the occasion.

There was a litany of alumni across the judging panels. STAN itself was given the honour of judging Event Coverage, with Selin Izzet, Matt Robinson and Jonathan Bufton pouring over the entries. Congratulations must go to LSTV and Live at Leeds in the City for taking home the glassware.

Our stall at conference proved a popular destination for students, and it was a pleasure to share the exhibition space with old STAN colleagues Rowan Johnson and Emma Bew with Southpoint Films and the BBC. A special mention must go to Emma, who was given the prestigious NaSTA Fellowship award for her outstanding services to student television over the years.

For the first time ever, our CV Clinic was open for business, and what a start. The queue was down the corridor, as our industry professionals gave tailored one on one advice to students. It was an encouraging start to the initiative, and we are excited to develop it for future events.

Dan Orton chaired our now annual STAN panel of recent graduates. Dozens of students attended to learn and ask questions to the STANel. We thank everyone involved for their time and wisdom.

A little bit of NaSTA history was made in Southampton too. The team from Offshoot TV in Belfast became the first Irish contingent at conference. We look forward to welcoming them into the alumni community and growing our network across the Irish sea.

Congratulations to all of the winners, and to Sonar Events and the NaSTA Exec team for delivereing a memorable event. The alumni as ever will continue to support, so roll on 2026!
