STAN Newsletter - December 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, we're reflecting on an exciting year in the Student Television Alumni Network. 

Southampton Success

We enjoyed being part of the 52nd annual NaSTA Awards & Conference Weekend at Solent University. We welcomed many students at our stall and in our CV Clinic, and took great pride in judging the Best Event Coverage award - congratulations to LSTV. We also celebrated former STAN & NaSTA chair Emma Bew, who was became the newest winner of the Fellowship award. More on that later. 

STAN On The Road

The Alumni took to the road this year with events across the country. In particular our visit to Salford University proved to be a hit with both students and the alumni who attended. We're aiming for more in 2026. 

Mentoring

We paired up a total of 14 students with alumni in our mentoring scheme across 2025. It was great to see the stories from those involved, and a great way for our alumni to give back to student television. 

Blast From The Past

STAN featured a couple of stories from the yesteryear of student television. Paul Hayes took us through his journey at Nexus, and Colin Grimshaw's memories of the remarkable STOIC both featured. If you have a story to tell on your old station, do get in touch - alumni@nasta.tv 

NaSTA Fellowship

A Fellow of NaSTA is awarded by NaSTA to an individual who has provided significant support to NaSTA, Stations (NaSTA Members), NaSTA Exec and/or the NaSTA Community past and present.

Do you know someone who fits that description? We want to make sure those alumni who have gone above and beyond for student television are properly recognised. 

If you do have a suggestion for a worthy winner of the Fellowship award, please email their name and a brief summary of their achievements to alumni@nasta.tv

... And A Happy New Year!

2026 promises to be another bumper year for STAN. We will be at the NaSTA Awards & Conference Weekend in Loughborough which takes place between Friday 27th to Sunday 29th March. There will be a few alumni faces on campus and on the judging panels.
