What University did you go to and what subject did you study?
University of York, English Literature
What Student TV Station were you a part of?
YSTV
Why did you choose to get involved with Student TV?
I'd always been interested in filming and editing my own stuff, and YSTV seemed the most friendly media society.
What was the highlight of your time involved with Student TV?
Producing the YUSU election coverage in 2010, the friends I made...and the socials!
How has Student TV helped you in your professional life?
It gave me filming and editing experience which was invaluable for getting into TV.
What did you do after graduating?
I did a Masters in TV Journalism at City University, and from there I got my first TV job working on a Dispatches.
What do you do now?
I'm the senior producer director for Economist Films, the documentary arm of The Economist.
What's been a highlight of your career so far?
Hard to pick one highlight, but I've loved being able to travel the world, meet interesting people and tell their stories.
What would you say to someone who is currently part of a NaSTA Station and is due to graduate soon?
I'd recommend getting as much experience as you can while you're still at university. It's the perfect place to have a go and find out what you like. Pick up that camera, try presenting, have a go at directing. Even if you're not sure you want to work in media, all the skills are very transferable. Later on in life you'll only regret what you didn't do.
